Every device in a given addressable fire alarm system has its own unique physical address. This feature is called addressability and is programmed during component’s installation.
The ability of a building system to identify the exact location of its components is known as system addressing, and not all systems feature it. This is a major factor for fire security and for the integration of building automation systems.
How to ensure addressability for your building automation systems?
When not all devices across different building systems have a physical address, installing addressable I/O modules provides them with addressability. Thus, in the event of early fire detection, the fire security system can precisely locate the fire and activate the necessary output devices only within the affected zone, protecting assets and ensuring a reliable evacuation.
This applies to both input devices, such as conventional fire alarm lines, manual call points, and valves, and outputs, such as flash sounders, smoke dampers, electrical fans, as well as actuators like pressostats, switches, valve actuators, thermostats, and more.”
The M9000A IO 1/0 and M9000A IO 3/0 monitoring modules provide precise zone identification, guaranteeing a faster emergency response, efficient smoke control via HVAC, and fault monitoring for sprinklers, extinguishing valves, and other output devices and actuators.
The M9000A IO 0/1 Ext 24V and M9000A IO 0/4 control relay modules enable the activation of output devices only at a specific location—the fire zone. This allows for multi-layered fire procedures (damper → fan → emergency lighting → door release) without affecting the entire building. The M9000A IO 0/1 Ext 24V ensures the activation of fire dampers and lighting circuits that require higher load capacity.

The M9000A IO 1/1, M9000A IO 1/1 250V-5A, M9000A IO 2/2, and M9000A IO 3/5 addressable I/O modules implement two-way, multi-stage system logic, coordinating precise fire localization with other building automations for synchronized, intelligent building responses according to the fire’s location. They enable the simultaneous localization and activation of multiple complex fire security procedures such as:
- Early fire detection – elevator stopping;
- High-voltage actuator control;
- Smoke extraction – fan shutdown;
- Activation of emergency and evacuation lighting;
- Daily monitoring of the operational status of building automation and fire security system components.
The ML9000A1 addressable expansion module provides an interface for scaling the FP9000A-2(6) addressable fire alarm panel with up to 4 additional loops. This allows your system to be expanded to 1500 devices, each of which is easy to locate. The M9000A ACZ integrates conventional line and upgrades existing conventional installations by providing a physical address to the devices.

Providing addressability for a building automation is a major factor not only during a fire event but also for the precise monitoring and maintenance of various fire security system components that require individual supervision, ensuring that faults and alarms are easy to locate.
